Moon

Moon is a pure breed Morgan. Moon was saved from going to the kill pens in August 2007. Upon arriving at AHHR, Moon had a very serious respiratory infection. He was still shoed on all four feet and had over 30 scars on him from being abused. With immediate care from our veterinarian, Moon was on his way to a better life. Within a couple of months the respiratory infection was gone. Moon has been at AHHR for 4 years now, and one scar, the scar on his muzzle has never totally healed having been rubbed raw into his bone. He still cannot raise his two back feet for farrier care without extreme pain.  Moon surely was a carriage horse prior to being sold at auction. It is assumed that he suffered some serious accident that resulted with damage to his rear pelvis area which prevents him from raising his rear legs for the farrier. Moon sometimes requires a mild sedative to properly barefoot trim his rear feet. Moon was at first reluctant to allow anyone in close quarters with him and it took much time and care for him to regain his trust again.  Moon no longer has to be concerned with being abused as he now has a permanent home at AHHR.
